So after a short break and snack, a time to relax it was into the minibus with a couple of extra church staff to a site of another church where a stage was set up in the grounds for the Festival of Joy, a time of dancing and singing with Doctor Mike Sabback giving the Word.
Here is the Bishop having a word at the meeting and the stage set up, most people sitting under a marquee roof and some out in the open.Luckily the mosquitos were not too much in evidence that night.
Here are some of the dancing from different groups at the Inter Faith centre:
These are from the Sunday school
This group rehearsing earlier in the day are all from the Muslim area just behind the church - but singing and dancing very enthusiastically to a Christian song
This is the newly formed boys choir from Puglia, the leprosy mission, and it was one of their first performances and it was great to hear their confidence grow as they went through their hymn.
And this the ladies choir and Sunday school girls singing just before the bible reading and the word given. The theme was the Father's love for us and the bible reading the Prodigal son. After that the team split up across in front of the stage with members of Bankura prayer ministry team and translators and gave prayer ministry to those who wanted it. It was interesting watching some of the youngsters as they were known as double or triple dippers as they went to different queues. While this was happening the ladies and girls choir returned to the stage and sang with enthusiasm for over an hour while the prayer ministry went on and as it finished some of us were taken onto the stage to sing and dance with them. It was a brillliant evening and the Holy Spirit was moving amongst everyone there and at the earlier sessions of the day. Then back to Durgapur in the minibus arriving back just after 10.30pm to have our dinner.
At least my thing the next morning was teaching at 8 and I have breakfast in my room but the American team had devotion and breakfast at 5.45 to be on the road again by 6.30. A six hour or so drive down to the coast to do a clinic and prayer ministry they will return later to day.
Meanwhile back here everything is very busy in preparation for the events over the next couple of weeks - especially the youngsters. They are practising dancing, marching and taekwondo for sports day tomorrow as well as for next week and violin playing, but they seem to be able to take it all in their stride.
When I'm working in the library in the mornings, Subhojit and Shyamol come in after school about 10.30 and like to read some of the books along with young David who is waiting admission into St Michaels School (an English Medium school). The other two go to Bidhan school where the teaching is in Bengali as they came here later and and their English is not good enough for that.
This is the friendly little lizard that comes into my room every evening and sits up in the corner. At least he then eats most of the mosquitos but they are quite and few round here and they come in any window or gap they can find.
