Ist lesson

Hi, this morning I gave the first group their first lesson. We have 12 violins so in this group, a group of 17, some sharing for time being as all the children are being given a chance to play. Up bright and early as lesson is 8.00 - 9.00 a.m. They were very keen and attentive and picked things up very well. They have a good ear and good rhythm. By the end of the lesson we were playing in three parts, with me playing the tune of Frere Jacques with two different ostinato parts going on underneath - this was all pizzicato. They enjoyed the lesson very much. They are having lessons every day Monday to Friday and they need to give their first performance with me on 1st February with an audience of up to a 1000 as the opening to their big festival programme. So I have my work cut out.

There will be two groups of pupils using the same violins, the others, a group of 12, will have first lesson at 6.00 p.m.every day. As the time comes closer then I will need to choose 12 to play on that occasion.

So a good start and I hopefully later I will remember to take a photo so you can see them.I took my camera this morning but got too engrossed in teaching and playing.
